Here we go! As promised, here’s some shots from yesterday’s successful Brewers’ Market at Snape Maltings, in Sunny (well, changeable) Suffolk. Enjoy. x
Applying the idea of a Farmers’ Market to beers, Britain’s first Brewer’s Market will bring together 12 of East Anglia’s best microbrewers at Snape Maltings, near Aldeburgh on Sunday 26 July. The event revives Snape’s long connection with brewing over 30 years after the site ceased malting barley for beer. – Polly Robinson, Food Safari

Perfect Sunday today, we headed down to the new Suffolk Brewers’ Market at Snape Maltings, not far from Aldeburgh in Suffolk. The weather was perfect for the event, which saw some of the regions best brewers turning up and discussing their latest beers with both real ale fanatics and market fans alike.
There was also some fantastic food to sample, too. The Bhaji Man was there in person dishing out some samples of his brilliant Onion Bhaji EasyMix. There was also a brilliant grill offering tasty burgers, sausages (which we out of this world) and sardines with locally produced salads – care of the ever-brilliant Metfield Bakery.
I’m currently going through the images from the day, and will post a special gallery of the event onto the site later this week.

I was fortunate enough to be invited by Polly Robinson – of fantastic new Suffolk venture, Food Safari - on one of their latest foodie excursions.
The Seafood in a Day event took us from sea to plate via Pinney’s well known smokehouse at Butley Creek, near Orford on the Suffolk coast. We started the day with a couple of hours on a chartered boat on the beautiful river Ore around Havergate Island and the internationally important nature reserve Orford Ness.
Back on dry land we took a behind the scenes tour of Pinney’s at Butley Creek, where oysters have been cultivated for centuries and Richard Pinney started smoking fish in the 1950s.
After the fantastic tour of the smokehouse we returned to Pinney’s own restaurant, The Butley Orford Oysterage in Orford’s pretty market square where we had a beautiful lunch and a hands-on demonstration of how to carve a whole salmon. My husband, James, even had a try – with mixed results!
It was a brilliant day.
