Last week, I was at Christmas Hall in Suffolk taking wedding photographs of a couple hailing from North Wales! They had travelled to the region having found the beautiful location online and making a booking to ensure everything went smoothly. Here are a few photos from their wonderful time in Suffolk.

Good times. During my daily login to all my digital news feeds and tweets and gubbins, I was really happy to see that I’ve now got 101 fans on my Facebook page. (Feel free to join in!).

Thank you so much too all followers of EightyOne. I’m super-chuffed that so many people enjoy my wedding photography, child portraits and pet photoshoots.

Come to think of it. If you are a fan on Facebook, then I’m going to come up with some way of rewarding you, in the form of a special offer photoshoot. Stay tuned for more information. Time to get my thinking cap on!

Off-duty wedding photographer!

It’s that time of year when I’m off to lots of lovely weddings and taking photographs of people’s very special day. This weekend is slightly different, it’s one of my best friend’s big day down near Bishop’s Stortford, so Mr EightyOne and I are heading down there to see her get married with our own eyes (rather than through a viewfinder, for a change!). I’ll still no doubt have a camera with me on hand to take some photos of their wedding, and maybe even some of us being there!

So, have a wonderful wedding Little Em, and we’ll hopefully have a catch up this afternoon once you have become Mrs. Herd! x

To the rest of you, have a brilliant weekend. I’ve currently got some fantastic plans in the works for a new project involving portrait photography – I’m sure you’ll be hearing about it soon!

Important questions to ask your wedding photographer.

Posted: June 14th, 2009 | Author: Emma | Filed under: photography, wedding | Tags: , , , , | 3 Comments »

It’s really important to know exactly what you are getting with your wedding photographer. I like to think that I’m very open, honest and approachable as far as the information on the web site. However, it’s always really handy to have a list of questions available (along with the answers from me). This way, you know exactly how I work, and exactly what you should be looking for in a good wedding photographer in Suffolk

  1. Are you the only photographer in this company? If I hire you, am I guaranteed that you will be the one showing up to shoot my wedding? If yes, can I get that in writing?
  2. When you book EightyOne for your wedding, you get myself and my husband James as photographers at your wedding. Only us, nobody else. We will never sub-contract our work to other photographers and we work with your right through the requirements for you wedding photography, right up to, as well as on your wedding day.

  3. Is the work that I am seeing all yours and only yours or is it a compilation of work from more than one photographer?
  4. The wedding photography seen on my web site is only taken by myself and my husband, James. There’s no stock photography used, or other photographers work in any section of the web site.

  5. Can you show me 3 or more complete weddings you’ve done?
  6. Of course, there’s a small selection of wedding photoshoots we have worked on available on the site. I’d be more than happy to show you more either in person, or by email.

  7. Do you offer traditional wedding photography? Photojournalism? Or both?
  8. Both are available. We tend to shoot reportage style wedding photography for the ceremony and reception, but also take group photographs and traditional Bride and Groom shots.

  9. Is colour and B/W photography included or is there an extra fee for B/W?
  10. B&W photographs are included. We hand-pick all the images we hand over to you. During this process, we process some shots to be B&W. We’re also happy to offer colour version of these photographs for a small fee. Please contact me for more information.

  11. Is unlimited coverage included in your packages or is there an extra fee for all day coverage? Are you willing to come extra early to get shots of us (the couple) before the ceremony if we choose to do that? Would there be a fee for this?
  12. Please see the easy to understand wedding photography price list for exact fees. We are happy to arrange bespoke packages for your wedding day.

  13. Do your packages include one or two photographers and is there an extra fee for a second photographer?
  14. All our packages include two photographers. We truly believe that this way, we can fully capture a stunning range of wedding photographs. As mentioned in a previous question, they are only ever myself and my husband, James.

  15. How many and what kind of cameras do you use? (Do you have backup equipment if something breaks?) Do you use film based or digital cameras or a combination of both?
  16. We are completely digital camera based. We used professional level Nikon cameras and have backup camera bodies, lenses and memory cards available.

  17. How far will you travel to a wedding before charging a travel fee?
  18. Our wedding photography service primarily covers Suffolk and Norfolk but we are willing to travel further afield to meet your wedding photography requirements. Please contact me for more information.

  19. Do you charge a fee if the wedding and reception are in more than one location? What if we want to go to a third location for pictures? Is there a charge for this?
  20. We do not charge a fee for different locations, this is all included in the range of costs.

  21. Do you offer a website and CD of my images? If so, is this included in the packages or this is an extra fee?
  22. We hand over a DVD of images to you on completion of payment. All the images are full resolution, and you own the copyright to all of the images… We also upload all of the photographs taken to Photobox, so you can share them with family members, and place orders.

  23. Who owns the copyright to the photographs you take?
  24. You. On completion of payment, you are the sole owner of all the wedding photographs taken by EightyOne. This is a very important thing to consider. As the sole owner of the copyright on the images, you can do whatever you want with them, so you have no costly reproduction costs to take into account when planning your wedding budget.

  25. If your packages are not what I am looking for, would you be willing to try to customise a package for me that is within my budget?
  26. Of course! Just get in touch with me and I’ll work with you to get the exact wedding photography package you require.

  27. Do you offer only traditional albums or do you have a wide variety of options to choose from including any coffee table style books?
  28. We offer a range of stunning soft-back and hard-back coffee table books and albums. Rather than sticking prints into standard photo albums, we have the images professionally printed onto the actual pages of the book. It’s a beautiful way to present your images, and at a great price, too!

Hopefully this has helped you know what you need to look for in a wedding photographer, but also shown you in more detail the range of services and benefits EightyOne can offer.

Tying the knot. No strings attached.

Weddings.

They’re one of the most important days of our lives and when all the costs are added up, one of the most expensive, too. The last thing you need are hidden costs, restrictive packages, expensive prints and the possibility that you might not even actually own the wedding images you’ve had taken!

Fortunately, this isn’t the case here. With my wedding photography service, you can benefit from;

  • Easy-to-understand, itemised costs
  • Tailor-made packages
  • Full transfer of copyright on all wedding images taken by EightyOne
  • All images sent to you on CD to print and share as often as you like!

It’s also worth remembering that breaching someone’s copyright on images can be easily done, and quite costly if you get caught out. Where copyright is in place with wedding photography, even buying a print and then getting it copied (even scanned) can breach ownership rights and land you in all kinds of legal loopholes.

Contact me if you’d like more information about my wedding photography services. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have.

Please note: this service only applies to my Wedding Photography packages.

I’m pleased to be able to upload a fantastic set of my latest wedding shoot, which took place earlier this month at a beautiful church a few miles outside Halesworth. Not only was the wedding amazing, but the weather was very well behaved!
